Internationally-acclaimed husband-and-wife duo Isabel and Alfredo Aquilizan presented their first solo commerical exhibition in Australia in over a decade, ‘Arrivals and Departures’. A retrospective of sorts, the exhibition presented a restaging of existing works. Initially presented at Auckland Art Gallery in 2018-2019, “Project Another Country: From Pillars to Posts”; its three mammoth pillars were reconfigured and compressed into the Yavuz Gallery Redfern space. Wing (Large) (2019) as another featured work that was first presented with their exhibition Home/Land Project: Another Country at Bunjil Place in Victoria, that resulted from several months of assemblage workshops that initiated discussions around understandings of ‘home’ and ‘belonging’. Hundreds of small cardboard homes were created and added to this 10 meter-long wall work.
